Understanding the Ba Chop Feng Shui Method
The Chue Style Ba Chop method, developed by Grand Master Chan Kun Wah, uses the Nine Jiu Stars 九曜星 to analyse the quality and character of Chi within a building and its surroundings. Each of the eight directions contains three stars: the Site Star, Facing Star and Mansion Star, whose interaction reveals how different areas may influence the use and function of a space.
The Nine Jiu Stars provide a framework for understanding the different qualities of energy present in an environment. Their combinations are considered alongside the physical forms of the landscape and built environment, allowing practitioners to assess how a location may support or challenge particular activities. The aim is to understand the unique energetic characteristics of each area, rather than assume that one direction or arrangement is universally favourable.
Study forms is important
By studying the forms of the surrounding environment, practitioners learn to recognise how buildings, streets and other physical features influence the energy of a place. This practical approach is central to Ba Chop: rather than applying a general formula, each location is assessed according to its individual characteristics, orientation and the interaction of its stars.
Exclusive to Chue Style Feng Shui, Ba Chop offers practitioners a structured method of analysing the relationship between form and energy, and applying this understanding to real environments.
Those interested in exploring this method further can join a Ba Chop Practicioner Course, open to the general public, or pursue Advanced Ba Chop Training for qualified practitioners. Details of upcoming courses are available on the Chue Feng Shui Foundation website.
