In Feng Shui, the shape of a landscape, the view and the back of a location have a significant impact on the prosperity and development of a place and its population. Learn from the example of four locations in the Crans Montana ski area in the Swiss Alps the extent of this impact and which are the major influences.

The Crans Montana ski resort in Valais in the Swiss Alps is spread across several ski lift departure points. The development of these four different regions varies greatly. While the western agglomeration known as “Crans” is very prosperous, the easternmost locality, “Aminona,” is in decline and projects are slow to get off the ground. The landscape may have an influence on these differences.

Crans - Being exceptional wealthy needs exceptional Feng Shui

The first village west of the valley road is Crans. It has small buildings, lots of chalets, several lakes and ponds, and a golf course that doubles as a cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and sledding area for children in winter. 

The view of the Alps is unobstructed. Behind it, the mountains form a harmonious backdrop. The “Cry d'Er” cable car takes you up to the “Bellalui” platform at an altitude of 2’548 m, where the view is exceptional. Crans is the most luxurious and prosperous resort, with high-end boutiques, art galleries, prestigious hotels, and restaurants. Its clientele is international and wealthy.

Montana - Landscapes forming healthy surroundings

Located in the center, the village Montana is next to Crans, connected by two lakes. Since the 19th century, this part of the resort has been home to clinics from several Swiss cantons. The favorable climate and unobstructed views of the Alps provide ideal conditions for rehabilitation, historically especially for lung problems. The “Arnouva” cable car also takes you to the higher altitude of “Bellalui” at 2,548 m.

The village, made up of small buildings and chalets, is busy all year round. There are many shops of all kinds, restaurants, hotels, a casino, an ice rink, a mini-golf course, and a bowling alley. It is a family resort, and an intermediate stop on the cable car offers ski equipment for children.

Les Barzettes - How to welcome future chi

Comprising a small group of low-rise buildings and chalets, with a single bakery and a few hotel complexes, Les Barzettes is located east of Montana. There are no lakes, but there are bisses (small streams). 

The “Violettes” cable car takes you up to the “Plaine Morte” glacier at 2,927m. This altitude offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Alps. The Barzettes resort is the finish line for world-renowned ski races. It is booming. The access roads are currently being widened to accommodate the infrastructure needed for future World Cup ski races.

Aminona - How stuck infrastructure hinders chi flow

Aminona is the last resort, consisting of a few towers that are recognizable from afar. There is no lake, but several waterfalls on the heights. This is the end of the access road and the end of the ski resort. The Aminona gondola lift has been out of service since 2014. 

The area is ideal for ski touring, hiking, and refreshments in typical alpine huts. There has been no urban development since the towers were built in the 1970s. A large luxury hotel project is currently under construction, but it is taking a long time to develop. This gigantic construction project was halted in 2017, which in Chue Style Feng Shui represents the beginning of a period that is unfavorable for this type of architecture. The success of this major project will depend on the reconstruction of the ski lifts. 

The mountains behind the resort are less harmonious and the view is less clear. The Gorwetsch mountain with its ravines has an imposing and dark appearance, and the Ilhorn can look threatening from this viewpoint.

Conclusion

These examples illustrate the importance of form, which we study in Feng Shui. The view that represents the future and prosperity must be beautiful and unobstructed. The back, which symbolizes security and health, must support us. The energy is unfavorable at the end of the road. Water flows down from the mountain in waterfalls to the east from Aminona and flows westward toward Crans. The space is wider and flatter, which enables the creation of lakes to store water, which also symbolizes prosperity.
