Our Grand Master Chan always says: “Little knowledge can be very dangerous!” “識少少,認代表,非常危險!”
Some clients and friends were using mobile apps to open their Chinese Horoscope. They are free of charge apps are easy and quick to use. They showed me their birth charts from the apps and asked for my advice. “You should be careful with free stuff.” I said. I do not believe that the people who wrote these apps understand Chinese
Horoscope of which the knowledge is not that simple. The vast majority of the apps’ recommendations is incorrect. Any person who relies on the information from the apps can get into deep trouble and his/her whole life can be ruined.
Anyone who is serious about opening a Chinese Horoscope should learn it properly from renowned Feng Shui and Chinese Horoscope schools. This is because there are many fundamental issues which the apps have not been able to deal with, and therefore the chart could also be wrong. The Chinese Horoscope apps usually use 立春 (Spring
begins, usually on 4th of 5th of February) as the date of the year starts. Our Grand Master Chan, the Founder of the Chue Foundation, and his fellow students have done research for many years to reaffirm the year start date should be on 冬至 (Winter solstice, usually on 21st or 22nd of December).
As Chue practitioners analysing 八字, we first identify the sickness of the chart. For instance, is it too wet or dry, too cold or hot; are the elements imbalanced, etc. The next step which is the most important part is to find the medicine, meaning the Using (or Supporting) Element 用神 to balance the chart. The element which produces the Using Element is the Main Source Element 喜神. This is similar to seeing a doctor who diagnosed the patient and gave him the right medicine to heal the sickness. It is extremely dangerous to pick the wrong Using Element, for the person’s life could become a disaster.
Selecting the Using and Main Source elements involve so much knowledge and experience. The element(s) selected must be strong and healthy, and present in the person’s chart.
The illustration is an example of chart which the Apps stated metal is the Main Source and Using Element.
This is how the Chue Style practitioner analyses the chart. A yang water person born in mid-Spring. Wood is getting strong in Spring. Water nourishes wood. The territory or the branches have the three-meeting (寅卯辰) which form the Eastern Wood (東方木). The 壬 water person combines to the month stem 丁 to form wood. This chart shows wood
is very strong in the East, and there is no metal element in the chart to control wood. Actually, this is a special form, called Wood Chi-Transform form 化木格. The Using Element is wood. Both water and fire are the assistant Using Elements. The elements to avoid is metal, followed by earth. Wood is everything for the person. Metal is the
‘enemy’ as it chops wood.
Based on the apps’ recommendations, metal is the Using Element. This is fundamentally incorrect because there is no metal in the chart to ‘use’. If metal was the Using Element, that means the person has no using element in which case the person could die young. If the person follows the recommendation and works in banking or heavy metal industry, he/she will not do well because metal kills his/her career.
Metal is actually the ‘enemy’ of the person’s chart. The West and Northwest directions belong to metal elements. The person must be very careful when going in these directions especially when travelling abroad. The supporting directions for the person are in the East and Southeast (belong to wood), followed by the North (water) and South (fire).
