Sparkling Wine and Feng Shui
The Italians are covering the Presena glacier with white tarps to reduce the ice melting. Not only does it preserve the alpine skiing conditions, it also largely helps the production of sparkling wine further south in the Franciacorta district.
Franciacorta is a relatively small area just south of Lake Iseo in the Lombardi region, and their sparkling wine is produced, like Champagne, through the bottle fermentation method. The produce is a result of a stringent set of regulations and quality standards like hand-harvesting and bottle-aging which has resulted in DOCG recognition.
Our climate is changing, Europe is getting warmer, and it represents a big challenge also for wine production. Franciacorta is originally a warmer region than chilly Champagne, but as Champagne is getting warmer, Franciacorta thrives in the ice-cold wind and water from the Iseo lake, which has its intake from the Presena glacier through the Oglio river. The chill wind functions as air conditioning, keeping the vines healthy.
I visited seven producers this summer, all showing a professional interest in ecology and research. Years of experimentation and studies has for example led to the old, resistant Erbamat varietal being included among the grapes allowed to make Franciacorta sparkling wine.
The farmers know all this, the geographic conditions that make the wine production possible. What they do not know, is the additional asset of Lake Iseo and the surrounding geography.
The lake is located directly to the North of the Franciacorta district. In the 9th fate period, having pure, fresh water in the North represents wealth and money. Most of the vineyards do not have a direct view to the lake, but the water is still auspicious for all, through the wind and irrigation it provides.
In addition, the morainic soil has made natural hills, like "arms", to hold the energy.
Bellavista Wine - One of the larger producers is Bellavista Wine. Combine high tech skills with Italian design and you get a first-class estate, well worth a visit. The Ming Tang to the north of the building has a circular shape and pattern with a fountain in the middle.
Above the pond is a Goy Moon earth construction bearing a swing. Rarely used, but it may shift energy directly to the door. It also represents playfulness, which is nicely paired with sparkling wine. The bottom of the fountain is the
glass ceiling of a wine storage room beneath. This storage room also has window in the vertical wall which is covered by falling water outside, ending in yet another pond on the level below. The water seems to run through the metal Mou Kuk arch at the end of the Ming Tang.
The impression is that the wine cellar is covered with cooling water on top and in front in the North. The Ming Tang of the building has used earth, metal and water elements. The facing of the building has fire shape. The vines are wood elements, so all elements are present. It is all well set up to take advantage of the 9th fate energy. And the wine was excellent.
